Back from Amsterdam and
moffel83's place. So, after meeting up with
lostlollipop in Amsterdam and having way too much pizza, the three of us went to the theatre, thank God everything worked out with the tickets. The theatre was pretty small actually, but it was nice and cozy.
ISTD is a very original, classically filmed gothic movie, historically incorrect till no ends and shitting on any rules, with many hilarious scenes. You can say that it totally lives off and gets carried by the fantastic duo Larry Fessenden and Dom and their graveyard scenes are what make the movie so enjoyable. They're a great comedy duo with the best and funniest facial expressions. We all know that Dom is a facial expressions master, but Larry really doesn't have to hide. Lol. He's a genius. You can totally see that these two had a hell lot of fun shooting this. The whole movie is very gothic, but of course the zombies and vampires (and a VERY original find in one of the graves, I'm still laughing my ass off lol) break the genre. The first vampire scene is absolutely hilarious. If you like the Shaun of the Dead humor and even the Simpsons, you'll have your fun. I'm just saying, stake in, stake out, stake in, stake out. Lol.
Dom is TEH SEX in this movie. Niiice look. And there is a scene with him and Fanny in bed and nothing's really happening (or rather, we don't see anything happening) except her seducing him because she wants something and a brief kiss, then fade to black. But like Moffel said, in that simple scene they had more chemisty and it oozed more sex than Elijah's cringe-worthy full frontal Oxford Murders scenes. Lol.
Another great thing was the camera and the perspectives they used. Sometimes they would melt comic book pics with real shots or they would split the screen. Like there's one scene where you have a hardcore closeup of Dom's face on the left and on the right in the background you can see a vampire slowly standing up. Also the score was very fine.
What I didn't quite like was that the movie was way too short. They could have filled it with more which is also why I hope that they make a sequel. The ending is rather surprising and not exactly what you may expect.
If you have a chance to watch this movie, do it. I can see it becoming a dvd cult classic.
Back at Moffel's place, we also watched Elijah's "American Dad" episode. I hadn't seen it before, ah. Lmao, I love his maniac laughter. Daddy! Daaadddy!!
